Reasons and solution for conversion of local recording failed in Zoom App

After the Zoom meeting is over, conversion processing of the recorded meeting starts.

Reason why conversion of local recording fails

  •  There is not enough “disk space” on the computer at the time of conversion  .
  • Invalid Work “Path / Folder” (Invalid network connection may be displayed with this alert).
  • Anomalous errors, such as “internal errors” (bad data stream), invalid commands , or logic problems .

Responding to Insufficient Disk Space

  1. Check the “disk free space” and reserve the free space if the space is insufficient.
  2. Change / update the recording location and make sure that it is a valid path string / folder. Note: Perform steps 1 and 2 before step 3.
  1. Then select Convert for a recording that has not been converted and convert the meeting manually.
    To do this , choose Meeting > Recorded > Convert .

If the above work fails

Please send the file to Zoom . Manually convert at Zoom.

How to send to Zoom

  1. Select [ Open ] under the meeting where conversion failed ,  and search for Double_Click_to_convert file.
  2. Upload both [ “Double-click-to-convert” ] files to Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, etc.
  3.  Please send the URL link / share link to  Zoom via “support ticket” . Zoom will manually convert the recording and upload the converted file back.

Note: The conversion time depends on the size of the file (larger files take longer to download / upload, so they take longer).

I recommend that you start by checking the Zoom App, in the Meetings and Recorded tabs, to see if it appears under ‘Meetings’ or ‘Recorded’. After you have clicked on that Convert button on your recording, you will see a ‘convert’ button appear on the bottom of your recording, and you can click on that button in order to convert your recording. The Zoom App should be updated if you are experiencing any issues when trying to convert.
 
Failures in Zoom recordings can be converted to other formats
  1. Please download Zoom if you do not already have it installed on your computer by clicking here.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. Click on the Meetings tab to get started.
  4. You can find the recordings under the Recorded tab.
  5. You need to select the meeting for which you want to record in order to be able to record the meeting.
  6. You can convert the file by clicking the Convert button.
  7. Once you have completed the conversion, you should be able to use zoom_0. mp4 file.
During the recording process, you will be able to see the tab Recording. To enable or disable local recording, you will need to toggle the Local Recording toggle switch. It is important that you click Turn On if a verification dialog appears to confirm the change you have made. In order to get the option back if it is greyed out, you will need to contact your Zoom administrator, as it could have been locked either at the account level or at the group level, in which case you will need to speak with them.
 
When you start recording your Zoom meeting, it usually takes Zoom twice as long to process your recording. However, depending on Zoom’s current recording load, it may take longer – up to 72 hours – after your Zoom meeting ends. As a result, if any documents have been created during the meeting, you will probably need to process them after the meeting has finished; after the meeting has finished it will probably take 60 minutes to do so.
 
A local recording is generally placed in the following directory: Windows: C:/Users/[Username]/Documents/Zoom, where the recordings will be placed by default. /Users/[Username]/Documents/Zoom on Mac: /Users/[Username]/Documents/Zoom on Mac.
